OUR TRADITION OF GROWING INNOVATION
We’re continuously innovating to improve our operations to bring quality potatoes to Ontario supermarkets. From a commitment to food safety, land stewardship, as well as irrigation, OPDI is a leader in potato production.
Ontario Potato Dist. (Alliston) Inc.’s core business is farming, packing, storing and distributing potatoes and is solely owned by the Cappuccitti family. Since its beginning over 50 years ago, Ontario Potato has provided table and processing potatoes to both large and small supermarkets. While offering its products, we maintain the latest technological advances that enable us to continually improve our processes.
With new state of the art machinery, we can pack 4,000 10lb bags per hour. This high efficiency has strengthened Ontario Potato’s position on the marketplace and has allowed us to become a leader in the produce sector and with our integrated systems, the entire process is completed on-site.
Ontario Potato Dist. (Alliston) Inc. has been built on the reputation of high quality potatoes and excellent service. To ensure our commitment, we follow through on stringent food safety requirements and are CanadaGAP Certified. The CanadaGAP Program is based on a rigorous hazard analysis applying the seven principles of internationally-recognized HACCP approach. The program has been benchmarked and is officially recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). The program is administered and maintained by the Canadian Horticultural Council (CHC), with audits annually. We also work closely with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to ensure that our products meet the stringent standards set by the CFIA for domestic, inter-provincial and imported potatoes.
